Command View TL - Change management station

How do I change the address that a tape library redirects a web browser to?

I installed CVTL to manage a ESL-712e. After the install, the management station was moved to a different subnet with a new IP. When it was first setup, if you enter the library in a web browser it would redirect to the IP address of the management station (http://esl-712e changes to http://esl-712e/cgi-bin/redirect.cgi which then changes to http://192.168.0.22:4095/index.html?US50841072 which is the old address of the management station.

Where/how can I change this to the new IP?

Thanks
Ken

Re: Command View TL - Change management station

Hi,

Please follow the below steps to change the Network Settings of Management station of CVTL.

To edit the network settings of the management station:
1. In the Launcher window, click the Management Station tab. The current settings appear.
2. Select Actions > Edit Network Settings to display the Network Settings dialog box.
3. Set the required proxy settings. If you choose to use proxy settings, enter the web proxy hostname
and web proxy port. If necessary, consult your network administrator for this information.
========================================
NOTE:
Command View TL uses proxy settings to retrieve software and firmware information
through the Web. Command View TL attempts to detect the management station proxy
settings at startup, but it does not use these proxy settings until instructed to do so.
========================================
4. Set the web server port. The default setting is 4095, which should not need to be changed. If you do
change this value, the new value does not take effect until the next time a GUI is started; the current
GUI is unaffected. This value can be viewed in the content pane of the Management Station tab.
5. Set the active IP address for the management station. The active IP address is the one used by the
management station to communicate with clients and libraries.
34 Command View TL GUI
6. Click OK to save your changes.
=======================================
NOTE:
Changing the active IP address terminates the current GUI session. To restart the GUI
session, enter the new active IP address in the address field of the browser.

Re: Command View TL - Change management station

I have done that. The new address of the management station is correct but it does not seem to be passed back to the library.

Any more thoughts?

Re: Command View TL - Change management station

You can try the following steps otherwise.

- Try to uninstall the CV TL from the Managing station and reinstall the same. (This would delete all the previous settings)

- Make sure you Backup the CV TL License while uninstalling.

I hope the re installation fixes the issue.

Cheers.

Re: Command View TL - Change management station

I tried removing and re-adding the library but that didn't work.

I did eventually reinstall CVTL and that fixed the problem but surely there is a better way??

Re: Command View TL - Change management station

Thats great to hear.

yeah, another way we could have tried is we could have deleted the Cookies and Temp files from the Internet Settings>>Options.

That may resolve the issue. But many a times it wont.

Anyway, issue is resolved!!

cheers!

Open command view then go to the management station tab
then click actions edit network setting
then modify the active IP address.

Re: Command View TL - Change management station

If you cange the CVTL Server for an ESL you have also to do this on the ESL:

- Telnet to the Interface Manger
- Login: admin / ...
- Type: clear station
(Clears any management station registered with the Interface Manager. Use
this command when removing a library from its primary management station.)
- Restart CVTL
