Compaq Storage Agent hangs when DLT8000 connected

Hi,
I have installed a Compaq DLT8000 tape drive on an NT4 sp6a Proliant ML370 G2 system using the on board SCSI channel, but the drive seems to cause the Compaq Storage Agent service to hang on startup. The server hard drives are connected to a separate Compaq 5300 RAID card. It's not related to the tape driver because it happens when the driver isn't loaded. It has something to do with the Storage management agent getting SCSI info from the drive - if I disable the SCSI Information option in the Compaq Management Agents screen (from within Control Panel) then the problem disappears. The firmware version on the DLT8000 is at 11a.
Any suggestions??
