Compatibility DLT 20/40 & 40/80 media.
I've just replace my DLT4000 20/40 by a Superloader DLT1 40/80 using media DLT IV.
Arcserve 2000 cannot Format my old media DLT IV, saying "write protected".
Do you know a tools to force the new format (40/80) on old media used in 20/40 format ???
Please Help...

Re: Compatibility DLT 20/40 & 40/80 media.
Hi,
If DLT medias has been used in a DLT4000 drive there is problems if you want to use them in DLT1 or DLT vs80 drives (different head technology).
Check this link:

The only way to overwrite tapes writed with DLT drives in a DLT1 or VS80 is to degauss them, but if you have only a few of them it will be better and cheaper to buy news ones.
The problem is tha the magnetic fiels that wrote on these drives in stronger that the one on the DLT1 head, so no way to manage them
