Compatibility between Ultrium 960 and LTO4

Hi,

For a new system we provide an Ultrium 960 tape drive and bought some LTO3 800GB data cartridge.

Yet, the final customer said he has already some LTO4 1.6TB cartridge.

On some data cartridge provider web sites, it seems that we can use LTO4 as 800GB data cartridge.

Could someone tell me if LTO4 data cartridge are compatible with Ultrium 960 tape drive ?

Hi Bertrand,

LTO4 data cartridge is not compatible with ULTRIUM 960 LTO3 tape drive. LTO3 drive can not read LTO4 media as upward compatibility is not possible.
