Re: Compatibility of the units with arcserve

There should be a tape compatibility
table somewhere at the Arcserve Website.

Those drives have been tested and should
work.

But a drive may even work if it is not
mentioned in this table.

So if you buy a drive that is in this list,
you are on the safe side :-)

Thansk but, the question is, if the application Arcserve have a controllers of all the tape, ´cause I not qualify the controllers in Windows (My Computer, right clik manage, administrator of devices, right click on the tape and disable the controllers) the tape continue working, and I can to do the backup.

Arcsever have a controllers for the tape ?

Thansk.

Re: Compatibility of the units with arcserve

Arcserve 2000 and higher hijack the Windows "removable storage service"

Its quite possible for you to not see the tape in device manager but that Arcserve can still access it.

I know for a fact the U215i U215e 448 and 460 drive work with Arcserve

Re: Compatibility of the units with arcserve

I was surprised by this as well but actually you are supposed to DISABLE both the Drive and the Autoloader/library in the device manager and possibly disable the Removable Storage Service as well. After that, using the latest Device Support Patch for Brightstor Arcserve Backup (SP5 for v11.1SP1 is current I believe), you should get the best results. This is what CA says, not sure if it is really true :-)
