Compatibility

I have a HP3440 server and want to replace the old DAT72 tape drive with a LTO-4 tape drive. Is the EH922SB compatible with my server?

Re: Compatibility

Hello,

The rp3440 server uses a Ultra160 SCSI integrated I/O interface whereas the LTO-4 Ultrium 1760 tape drive requires Ultra320 LVD SCSI host interface. In order to connect the LTO-4 tape drive to the rp3440 server, you will need a compatible Ultra320 SCSI HBA. You would find information about the compatible SCSI HBAs in the quickspecs links provided below

Re: Compatibility

Yes that server is compatible with that tape drive.  The tape drive is compatible with U160 SCSI and might work on one of the integrated SCSI controllers but I can't find any records of that ever having been qualified.

The recommended connection with that server is using either:

PCI-X 2-port 1000BT/2-port U320 Multifunction adapter

AB290A

Or

PCI-X 2 channel Ultra320 SCSI

A7173A

Both of those are listed in the HP tape compatibility matrix (www.hp.com/go/ebs) and the server QuickSpecs.
