Connecting a MSL6030 to a Smart Array 6i

I have a Smart Array 6i with two port. Port 1 connected to SCSI disk drives with SCSI ID 0 and 1, and port 2 connected to library scsi with scsi id 3.

This is a configuration supported for HP ? Smart Array 6i is adapter scsi supported for connecting MSL 6030, or i have to connect with another scsi adapter..

Anyone have a list of scsi adapter for connect with MSL 6030 ?

Re: Connecting a MSL6030 to a Smart Array 6i

Smart Array controllers should not be used to connect tapes or libraries. In many cases they will not even recognize the library as they do not support multiple LUNs on a SCSI ID.

Check MSL quickspecs http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11863_div/11863_div.html
and EBS compatibility matrix:

True, this isn't supportet.

The smart array do support tape drives.
using hotswap tape drives for the hard drive cage, or using the external connector on the back of the chassis. The ext. conn. is marked with a tape icon.

If you connect a MSL5000/6000 series library. The drives will be listet during POST by the Smart Array controller.
The library will not be listet.
(Actually I have seen it work, Don't do it)

The recommended SCSI HBA, is a Compaq or HP branded Adaptec 29160 and 39160.

Yoy can you an original Adaptec, but then you will not be able to see library on the insight home page.

Accept or Kudo

I do have the same issue with auto loader
correct you can use for MSL

what will happen you will see only drive and not the robot

so attach a new SCSI card to you server then attach the MSL to this card

This will work
