Connecting to a e1200-160 Network Storage Router card
We have just installed a MSL5000 tape library unit. It came with a e1200-160 Network Storage Router card installed in it. All documentation points to the network interface being set to 1.1.1.1 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 and the settings for the serial port as being 115200 8-N-1 XON/XOFF.
I have set up a mini network where a spare lan port on my J6750 is configured as 1.1.1.2 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0. Both the spare lan port on the J6750 and the ethernet port on the e1200-160 are plugged into a Netgear hub and appear to be active. I cannot ping/ftp/telnet/http to the 1.1.1.1 address. Assumption is that it is configure with some other IP address.
I have tried connecting to the serial port as well using multiple laptops/PCs different cables and DB9/RJ-11 adapters - no luck. I have tried many different configurations via HyperTerm, but the mix of values makes one dizzy.
I would like to hopefully get one answer to the following two questions:
1) Does anybody know how to restore the factory default settings for the e1200-160 Network Storage Router card?
2) Does anybody have the complete pinout out for the RJ-11 serial port on the e1200-160 Network Storage Router card through to a DB9 female serial adapter?
Thanks much in advance,
Brian

Re: Connecting to a e1200-160 Network Storage Router card
The serial cable of the MSL looks similar to the cable of the NSR, but it is different. You need to use the right one. Depending on the version, the NSR LAN interface is using DHCP, the hostname is "router". Try it.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Connecting to a e1200-160 Network Storage Router card
Thanks all for your input - the pin assignments was helpful. I also found this info elsewhere on HP's website:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00023677
Based on this, I was able to purchase a DB9 Female to RJ-11 and configure based on the signals for the for the RJ-11 pins on the E1200-160 serial port.
I've included a drawing that might be of use to others in the future.
