Constant Busy Light on Tape Drive
The tape drive in question is a DDS-3 drive installed in a Compaq AlphaServer DS20E running Compaq OpenVMS. The first indication that something was wrong was when it would not accept a tape being loaded into it. I tried dismounting the tape drive, but got a message back that the device is not mounted. I "bounced" the server, and that's when the busy light started blinking, and it will still not load a tape into the drive. I tried a complete power down and reboot, but still the sypmtoms persist. Is there a diagnostic utility available to test this drive, or any suggestions on what else I can try? Thanks to any and all for their help.
