Correct cable to connect hp 4000 SCSI to external DLT8000

I purchased a compaq dlt8000 (mfr. by Quantum) part 154871-002. The scsi tape drive and thte scsi c87x fast wide differential card both take md68 connections. I purchased a scsi-3 ultra2 lvd/se md68m/m cable from cablestogo, but I cannot see the tape drive. I have loaded all drivers into my kernel and have rebooted. I have my two older dlt4000 tape drives daisy-chained off of the dlt8000, and ioscan does not see them either making me think I have the wrong cable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Donald

Re: Correct cable to connect hp 4000 SCSI to external DLT8000

The Compaq DLT8000 is LVD/SE SCSI drive.
The controller card is FWD . So it's not going to work.

If you have had HP SureStore DLT8000, then above could have worked ( assuming DLT4000 is FWD as well).

Secondly if you are going to daisy-chain DLT8000 with DLT4000, you would get the top SCSI speed as that of DLT4000.

Thank you for your response. Is the A5149A PCI Ultra2 SCSI Host Bus Adapter, the card I need for the DLT8000 tape drive? I have two DLT8000s that I will daisy-chain. I will drop the DLT4000 tape drives.

Thanks,
Donald

I used the built-in FWD scsi controller that the DAT tapes were connected to.
