Could not install LTO1840

Could not install LTO1840

Hi,
I use (2) Ultrium-2 without problem.
I want to add a new Ultrium-4 in my windows 2003 server.
The SCSI Controller sees it and the U-4 is shown in the device manager.
The driver cannot be installed. I get the error "the file could not not found" code 0xe0000228.
I copied the files (new downloaded) (inf and sys) in the resp. locations without success too.

Thanks

Gerard

Re: Could not install LTO1840

This should work OK so likely something not quite right in your install.

For 32 bit Win2003 you should be downloading from here:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=3454484&prodNameId=3454488&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=co-53120-1

When you download the driver, extract all the files and point your update selection to the holding directory:

disk_1051/drivers/WinNT/Win2003/i386

The update looks in that directory to find the .inf and .sys files.

When loaded, the driver should be version 1.0.5.1. You need that to work with the 1840.

Fingers crossed...
It's more interesting when it's gone wrong

Re: Could not install LTO1840

Sorry,

The same error occurs (like before)

Translated from german:

There was an error while installing the following hardware component

There was a problem installing the device.

Re: Could not install LTO1840

That's odd. Can you confirm that it's saying 'file not found' after you point it to the directory that holds the .inf and .sys files?

Is your system 32 bit? if it's 64 bit you'll need to point at the 64 bit directory. This should be no different to when you loaded your driver for the LTO-2!

Strange. I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Re: Could not install LTO1840

Yes it searches for a file !

I have two Ultrium-2 installed and the windows (2003) drivers are well installed Although not used.
The drives are deactivated because they are used with Veritas Backup-Exec V10.1.
I redirected a job to the new Ultrium-4 last friday and it passed successfully.
Strange that the windows drivers could not be installed. This can obviously bring some problems in the future.

Best Regards
