DAT 20/40 8 TL Server Lockups

I have installed the above external drive onto a Compaq ML570, it is on its own on a MB scsi bus. Whenever the tape library inventorys the tapes the server appears to be frozen to all workstations, athough checking the console the screen shows 33% utilization and the tapes being inventoried. Once the tape inventory has finished workstations can again gbrowse the server. The server is running Netware 5.1sp5, Arcserve 7EE. Any help appreciated.

NB We also experience this problem on 2 other servers (Proliant 3000's) but with SDLT 110/220 drives, the freeze on these appears during the locate when running a restore, once the files start to be restored then browsing the server is ok.
