DAT 24i error
I have a 3 and 1/2 year old DAT 24i i a Win NT machine running BackUp Exec for NT. I continously get the Media Caution Light blinking when I try to mount tapes (currently using Imation DDS3 125M tapes). I've tried using cleaning the drive using HP cleaning cartridges including a brand new one out of the box. Each cleaning cartridge ejects after 22 seconds. The problem persists.
I suspect it's time to replace the drive but wanted to egt a second opinion.

Re: DAT 24i error
hi
If you enter your cleaning tape does it perfor a normal cycle ?( 2 minuts +-)
If yes try this:
clean with a good cleaning tape for five time your dat,
flash the bios of the tape drive with the last firmware http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hpsurestor9640_swen.html
try again with a new catridge.
if still problem probably you need to replace the unit
