DAT 24i still not working
My situation is, I have installed Sco Openserver 5.0.5 on HP server TC3100 and boot disk is connected to HP Netraid 1M Controller. I install a Scsi Tape drive ( DAT 24i) using #mkdev tape and its succesfully configured.
Tape is appear in hwconfig(#hwconfig -h) but when i run "#tar -cvf /dev/rct0 ." this message is appear( tar: cannot open:/dev/rct0 )
I also try to remove and add back tape drive by using #mkdev command for many times but still not work.
I really need help from all.
Thanks.

Re: DAT 24i still not working
I was under the impression that the usual SCO device files for tape where /dev/Stx. Where these created ?

Re: DAT 24i still not working
As I am not familar with SCO unix, just with HP-UX and Solaris I am perhaps not the right person here, but in HP-UX the tape driver is not configured in the kernel by default. You need to add it if you want to use a tape. Can there be anything like this here.

Re: DAT 24i still not working
check this document: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=lpg51074&locale=en_US&docId=40579
It explains the correct procedure to install the DAT24 in SCO and tells how to test the drive.
From SCO there are a bunch of good documents available as well. You may wish to check this as well: http://osr5doc.ca.caldera.com:1997/cgi-bin/man/man?scsitape+HW
