DAT24i and WIN NT 4

What causes NT Backup to see new media (10 tapes) as write protected?
Erase didn't work.
Tape Ware also doesn't see the media?
The drive's a DAT24i, firmware is up to date, device analysis and r/w test both passed OK..

Hello Hatem,

If LTT read/write tests work fine on your config, I think you best concentrate your efforts on Windows NT 4, service packs and possibly even post SP6 bug fixes for tape. I did a quick search and the only issue I found documented by MS is one like yours but on Windows 2000 (Q275155)

You did not say what type tape you are trying to use in this drive. I believe this drive will only take up to 125 meter tapes, and will not work with the newer larger capacity tapes. Also, does the unit do this with all tapes, or only on your 10 new tapes?

Remember the first software rule, do not believe the content of the error message to be absolutely true, only believe there is a problem!
