DAT72i USB working with Backup Exec

Hi,

I have a DAT72i USB and I'm trying to use with Backup Exec 8.6 - can anyone tell me is it possible to use a usb device with this version of Backup Exec.

Hi Grace,

Unfortunately, no. Backup Exec 8.6 does not support USB tape devices. Support for USB tape devices is only provided from Backup Exec version 10.0 onwards.

Your options are:

1) Upgrade to the latest version of Backup Exec (purchase required)
2) Use NTBackup (free with Windows but very basic)
3) Use HP Data Protector Express (free, provided in the box with the tape drive)
