DL 380 G6 & P212 & Storageworks 1760 LTO4
We are using a brand-new HP DL 380 G6 with the latest Proliant Support Pack installed (Windows Server 2008 R2). One Storageworks 1760 LTO4 1U unit is attached via SAS / P212 HBA. The backup only worked for two days. If I test the drive with the HP TapeTools (Drive Assessment Test) it fails with a cleaning request and on the next hardware scan the device appears with a red cross.
During the tests all the Symantec Backup Exec 2010 services were stopped.
We swapped the drive, the sas cable, the HBA and tried different drivers (HP and Symantec).
Nothing worked for more than 2 days.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: DL 380 G6 & P212 & Storageworks 1760 LTO4
are you using new tapes? strange you get the cleaning request, this test is supposed to check all the parts of the LTO drive and if it report a cleaning request that mean there are read/write problems.
Can you also run your backup and when it fails collect a support ticket with still the tape in the drive, the log may clarify something.
Also are you getting errors in the System event logs related to timeout or similar? (usually error id 9, id 11 id 15?)
