My company purchased new hp server DL380 G6.
It has Brocade 425/825 4G/8G FC HBA
I plugged the Fiber Cable from that HBA to MSL6000 e1200-160.
The server hp sys management has FC status up and running. But e1200-160 controller has it down. I don't have any switch behind and it is direct from hba to nsr.
Please advise, many thanks.

Re: DL380 G6 HBA and MSL6000
The hp tech told me that the HBA fc needs to be "loop" mode. But hp HCM software won't able to edit anything.
In the e1200-160 controller.
Should I change port mode to Auto Sense or stay with N_Port?
once enable AL_PA, what should I set in Node Number Index of Hard AL_PA setting?
It has a table and calls (Arbitrated Loop Node Number to AL_PA Lookup Table)
How about Discovery Mode and buffered tape queue depth?
THanks again.

Solution- Port Mode (default: N_Port) sets the port mode.
Port Mode settings:
0 Auto Sense: In this mode, the Fibre Channel port tries to negotiate as a loop. If it is not successful, then the Fibre Channel port negotiates as a fabric. If the port comes up as a loop, it then determines whether it is on a private or public loop.
0 N_Port: (default) This mode allows the router to bypass the loop negotiation and come up as a fabric only. If the router is on a loop, and N_Port mode is selected, an error in communication may occur.
- Use Hard AL_PA enables or disables Hard AL_PA usage.
- Hard AL_PA Settings displays the AL_PA Lookup Table.
Use the table to find the node number. This unique one-byte valid value(derived from an Arbitrated Loop Topology defined in ANSI specification FC_AL version 4.5) is used for the Fibre Channel configuration.
For the other values, default should work

Re: DL380 G6 HBA and MSL6000
Thanks for your time.
it took me a week to find out the issue.
The Brocade HBA card won't work for this tape library. I replaced the 4GB one and it is working fine now.

Re: DL380 G6 HBA and MSL6000
The Brocade 425/825 4G/8G FC HBA is not supporting "Loop" mode.
Thanks for your time.
