DLT 4000 D Tape drive & Compaq Proliant 3000 NT 4.0

Hi,

Is it possible to connect an external HP DLT4000D tape drive to a Compaq Proliant 3000 server with NT 4.0 installed?

Found this drive in the closet and want to make it usefull somehow.

Hi there.
If you have a free SCSI connector available, you can use it. BUT the tape drive should have its own interface with nothing else daisychained to it.

Dear Edward,

Please could you supply the model numbers. There were fifferent HP versions of the DLT4000 drive and one of them (C6382A SMARTStorage DLT4000) has a fast narrow DIFFERENTIAL SCSI interface. The HP SureStore DLT40 is narrow single-ended. Make sure you use a compatible HBA.

Hi,

The drive has a small HP label on the back which says: Differential SCSI product A3590A.

On the bottom there is a large HP label which says: Product C1199H

Serial numbers on the 2 labels are the same.
The 2 scsi connectors are 68 pins female.

Hope you can help me further

Edward
