DLT 7000 (C6280) - How to reset Serial Number ?

Hi, we have a DLT 7000 series, and we need to reset Serial Number of the library.
Does anybody know how to do that ?

Re: DLT 7000 (C6280) - How to reset Serial Number ?

Actually we had a problem with view SDM SW. The reason being it applies an HW search and when it got to the DLT it stopped. We realized it was because of a parsing of the serial number (which had a blank in it).

We asked HP to set this number to a 123456789012 and they told us first to reset the serial number and then to apply a write_unit_serial_number.tst script.

I don't really know how to handle it ... thanks !

Mike,

Do you already have the script, and you just need help running it?

If so, just copy the script file, write_unit_serial_number.tst, to the 'scripts' folder under the install directory for HP L&TT. Then run the tool, select the autochanger device, select the test tool, check the library device, and then select 'C6280 set unit serial number to 123456789012' from the test group pull down. Hit 'start test' and the serial number will be updated. You can then reselect the device and click on identity to verify that the new serial number is reported.
The journey IS the reward.

Re: DLT 7000 (C6280) - How to reset Serial Number ?

Thank You David !
That's exactly what we were looking for. We got confirmation from HP in the meantime, but unfortunately we don't have a PC with a SCSI board to attach to the library (It's currently in use with an N4000 box). We'll wait for an HP CE to show up.
Again thanks ... you got it !
