Re: DLT 8000
Josh - that adapter is 'completely' compatible - and it is the opne recommended by HP when using the above mentioned dive (DLT 8000)

Re: DLT 8000
Bob,
The 2940 is only usable for LVD/SE drives, which many of the HP DLTs are. the drive spoken of here is FWD which requires a FWD card. -- the 2944.

Re: DLT 8000
I'm sorry Josh - but if you look at the compatibility link - you will see that the C7474A is recommended on all servers that are housing the DLT80/DLT8000/DLT40/80 drives
The C7474A is an ADAPTEC 29160LP - trust me I know it works and is completely compatible - I have one right here in our lab
also see - http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/techspecs.html?sess=no&language=English+US&prodkey=ASC-29160&cat=%2fProduct%2fASC-29160&fromarea=prod

Re: DLT 8000
Bob,
The Reason that the C7474A is recommended on those servers, is because many of the DLT Drives are LVD/SE. I administer a Netserver that has one of these drives in it.
That being said, the C6379A that Greenda is speaking of in this thread has an HVD interface. I have personally connected this exact same drive to an Ultra160 SCSI card from HP and the device was not recognized. The Adaptec 2940 is an HVD card, and is the ONLY way to connect to an HVD device. HVD is not compatable with any other type of SCSI.
