DLT vs 80 backup extreme slow
It is extremely slow. (20GB for full 38 hours).
For this rate it's almost useless for my network. It's slower than my DDS3.
Anyone know why?
I'm using ArchservIt client agent for across network backup of other servers.

Re: DLT vs 80 backup extreme slow
Your DLT VS80 and DDS3 drive are very different in the way they transfer data. Bearing this in mind, you would have to have a SCSI card suited to the DLT VS80 drive... I would recommend Adaptec's 29160 LP Ultra 3 Wide.. This retails in the UK for around ??230 but Im not sure on prices elsewhere in the world.. maybe $300 in the US? Im not sure.
This should solve your issue
Thanks

Re: DLT vs 80 backup extreme slow
If u do have a compatable scsi card, i would adv u to downlod and run the performance assesment tool from hp website, this will test your sytem. Not the drive.
cheers

Re: DLT vs 80 backup extreme slow
thanks.
I'm using Adaptec AHA-2940 (aic-78 PCI) Ultra w
SCSI adapter.
And results from Performance assessment tool are:
local drive - 5.7mb~7mb/sec
network drive - 1.97mb/sec
Std. rate - 6mb/sec
Does this means a imcompatible SCSI adapter?

Re: DLT vs 80 backup extreme slow
. Quite a common issue here with UK tech support.
Thanks

Re: DLT vs 80 backup extreme slow
For a local drive 5.7mb/sec is about right ( HP figure is 21.6/hour i.e 360mb / min, 6 mb a second.)
Network drives are generally a hell of slower than local ones...
Thanks
Jeff
