DLT4000 problems

I am trying to connect an old HP DLT4000SE to an adaptec 2940uw, I am using a 50 pin to 68 pin cable and the DLT is terminated with a single ended terminator.
At boot the system hangs at the 2940 bios.

Any ideas?
Do I need to use a different card or cable?
