Re: DLT7000 Driver

DLT7000 Driver

I have an HP SureStore DLT Autoloader 718 installed on a HP-UX 11.0 workstation. When I do an ioscan, Quantun DLT7000 is claimed but HP c6280-7000 is not.
It shows:
unknown -1 10/1/2/0.1.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN HP C6280-7000

The external bus is SCSI c785 Ultra wide single-ended and drive is c720. Driver for DLT7000 is stape. Driver sctl is listed and shows in the kernel. Is this normal for c6280-7000 to be unknown and unclaimed? If not, how can I get this claimed?

Hello,

Perform the steps as attached to make your autochanger work with HP/UX.

Re: DLT7000 Driver

Rebecca,
you need either 'schgr' or 'autox0' driver to include ino kernel. Simpy run SAM and go to kernel configuration. Then include these drivers, rebuild kernel and reboot. Then check with ioscan if changer is claimed

Re: DLT7000 Driver

Is the "unclaimed" issue affecting the speed that I am writing to tape (512kb/s)?

Re: DLT7000 Driver

If you see device 'UNCLAIMED' and/or 'UNKNOWN' then you even can not access it. To work properly with device it should be seen as 'DEVICE' and 'CLAIMED'. These two autoloader devices, drive and robot, are almost independent, so if robot is unclaimed it should not affect drive. So slow speed can be because you have broken SCSI cable or did not terminate SCSI bus correctly (from both ends, with correct type of terms - SE)
