DLT80 Performance Problem

DLT80 Performance Problem

I have recently upgraded the Firmware on a DLT80 from V025 to V080. Performance has now
deteriorated. The SCSI Adapter used ia an Adaptec AHA-2940 UUW using the latest Driver and Firmware. Windows NT 4 is being used with Backup Exec Version 7.3.

Any ideas why performance should have dropped
by 50% ?

Re: DLT80 Performance Problem

In our testing of recent DLT8000 firmware releases, we did note a increased sensitivity to small block sizes, where the drive had a harder time maintaining streaming.

What block size are you using?

The recommended block size is 32K or better.

Re: DLT80 Performance Problem

The block size is set in Veritas Backup Software at the default of 32K. The Buffer size is also set at the default which is also 32K. I will increase to 64K and see if this makes any difference
