DLT8000 Firmware Downgrade

I upgraded the firmware on my DLT8000 yesterday and now my drive ceased to function. It will go for a few mins then errors out with "Semaphore Timeout Expired"

I rebooted my backup server, re-upgraded to the same flash, and still smae problem. Does anyone know the password to perform the downgrade? This is critical, if someone can help i would appreciate it!!

Thanks

Hello,

Can you tell us from which firmware version you upgraded the DLT8000 drive and to what firmware version you did upgraded it?

Re: DLT8000 Firmware Downgrade

Hey guys...

I upgraded from V015 to V080.

My drive was working fine before the upgrade. I upgraded and started getting all sorts of I/O Resets, Semaphore Timeouts, etc. My drive would only work for about 20 mins, then fail.

I called HP and got the password (on hold for 54 mins!)

Downgraded back to V015 and the thing works like new again. Are there any known issues with V080?

Thanks for the replies...

Re: DLT8000 Firmware Downgrade

Hello,

Yes, v80 has issues.

The recommended firmware to which you can upgrade DLT8000 drives is v59.

Here's a document from Veritas on the Semaphore Timeout issue.
