Is there any documentation on how to set up and configure the DLT8000 (multiple tapes) with the RP5470? Need to set up the DLT8000 to back up our data to a different tape each night.

Re: DLT8000 on a RP5470
Hi Eric,
Can you clarify exactly what you're trying to do please.
You wouldn't normally configure a tape drive to back up to a different tape each night.
That would be a function of whatever backup package you're using...
Cheers,
Rob

Re: DLT8000 on a RP5470
After I physically install the DLT8000 and hook it up to the server how do I get HPUX to recognize it and use it? and what backup software packages are there for HPUX?

Solution
If you do an "ioscan -fn" - do you see any UNKNOWN entries? If so, you need to include the stape driver into he kernel and reboot.
After this you will likely see the tape.
Regarding the backups:
you can use for example
fbackup for your data
and
ignite to backup the OS
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
