DLT8000 "in use"

Hi everyone,
sorry for this, but i need help on this somewhat urgent... =(
i have a dlt8000 [C4318B] no tapes inserted but it kept on saying "in use"...
any ideas?

Check to see if the drive leader is positioned properly.

When you look into the drive, there should be a stiff leader positioned in the center at the rear of where a cartridge would load. This leader has a mushroom end on it, which engages with the loop on the end of tape.

One document I have suggests that a solid "tape in use" light could be caused by improper leader position, incorrect leader replacement, or tampering.

Have you tried power-cycling the drive to see if the problem goes away?

Did anything unusual happen with the last tape unloaded?
