DPE 3.10, email w/secure server

Hello,

We are using Data Protector Express 3.10-sp1a, and have just switched to an email gateway which requires a login to send mail. DPE does not have settings for this in the email server configuration. In looking at the release notes for v3.5, I don't see any mention of it either, but I only see notes for v3.5, so perhaps it was added in an intervening version. Does DPE currently support this feature?

Thanks,
Dave

Re: DPE 3.10, email w/secure server

Hi Dave,

Data Protector Express (3.1 or 3.5) uses SMTP for mail which does not require a login but rather talks to the mail server on a specific port (25 is the default).

Would the new mail mail server allow SMTP access on a diferent, more secure port, perhaps?

Re: DPE 3.10, email w/secure server

Well,

For some reason it's working (we're receiving the log email), even without authentication. I don't really understand how, because the server is supposed to require it. It still uses port 25, there's just a longer conversation with a username and password before you can start sending headers.

Anyway, thanks for responding!
