DPE won't rescan for tape drive
Hi,
Running latest DPE. Tape drive connected to and DPE running on Windows 2003 Server.
I installed DPE (evaluation) and it was working fine. Next day I tried to play again but drive said Offline. I deleted tape drive (IBM Ultrium LTO3 SCSI) from DPE but the drive never shows up in DPE anymore. I click on Rescan but it never turns up. I restart service and still nothing.
I removed DPE and put on DP6 and the drive was discovered during autoconfigure.
I remove DP6 and put back DPE but the drive still doesn't show up.
What can I do to get the tape drive back in DPE?
Thanks
Nathan

Re: DPE won't rescan for tape drive
Hello Nathan,
are u running the backups via LAN or SAN!?
In my opinion DPX does not support backups via LAN. Otherwise u should upgrade to SP4 for DPX 3.1

Re: DPE won't rescan for tape drive
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the input.
The problem appeared to be that this device isn't supported by DPX. Even though DPX discovered and used the tape drive when DPX was initially installed.
After speaking with HP I was told they had experienced the same thing on unsupported devices.
Lesson is, read the support matrix.
Thanks
Nathan
