DPX 3.5 always formatting tapes - DPX 3.10 SP4 does not
I recently installed Data Protector Express 3.50 purchased as bundle to a DAT72 Tape drive from HP and i manually formatted my tapes labeling them "monday", "tuesday", and so on.
However whith a automatic backup job regardless of the setting "only format blank tapes" all tapes got formatted an named "tape1", "tape2" ... and so on!
That's not what i intended.
I downgraded to DPX 3.10 Sp4 and it instantly worked as i wanted it!
So whats the problem here? Is it a bug in 3.50???
Btw: Downgrading worked flawlessly! Great job!
Martin.

Re: DPX 3.5 always formatting tapes - DPX 3.10 SP4 does not
Hi,
This is a new functionality added up in 3.5 inorder to allow backup job with a working rotation already estralished, the ability to add media to that rotation set. But the negative impact of this is the job will ultimately rename the the media as per the â new media nameâ settings in the properties of the backup job.
To avoid this delete what is listed under â new media nameâ settings and leave the field blank
Hope I have answered your question
Regards
Raj
