Dat Tape drives.

Just wanting to be sure its ok to mount
a dat tape drive sideways, like in a compaq
rackmount server. Thanks!

Re: Dat Tape drives.

I don't see any problem in doing that. I have a
DDS4 drive here that sits on it's side. I would
say it is probably not made to be like that,
but if it works why not.

Anyone for a Mutiny ?

Re: Dat Tape drives.

Stick that tape drive any old way, just don't block any of the cooling vents.

Sideways, upside down, cock eyed (wonder where that term came from?), it will all work the same.

Assigning points is a good thing.

Re: Dat Tape drives.

I wouldn't mount a DAT tape drive upside down, the specifications only rate it in three axis (-90 to +90) which is the same as Ultrium and DLT drives.

In addition, the Autoloaders have to be orientated in two specific directions only ; the usual horizontal plane and sideways (eject button down) only.

BTW Cock-eyed and Cock-up are all archery terms to do with the in which an arrow is placed on a long bow. Do I get extra points for knowing that ?
