Data Protect NDR questions
Hi there
We are running DP 5.5 on a MSL6060 with 4 drives. Our DR site will supply a MSL6000 with two drives.
Given that the hardware config will be completely different is this possible??
Thanks in advance
Olly Bryant

Re: Data Protect NDR questions
Can you provide more information???
Are the tape drives the same model?
Are both sites SCSI (or FC) connected?
Are you planning on keeping the DR site backup server live (visible to the Cell Manager)?

Are the tape drives the same model?
Yep they are both HP but as mentioned above, one is MSL6060 with 4 drives and one is MSL6000 with two drives.
Are both sites SCSI (or FC) connected?
Onsite MSL6060 is Fibre Channel and the DR site will be SCSI.
Are you planning on keeping the DR site backup server live (visible to the Cell Manager)?
Nope. The plan is to recover everything from tape.

Re: Data Protect NDR questions
As long as you are running compatible tape drives (same version or one higher at the DR site) you will be fine. If you have LTO3 in production and LTO2 at the DR site you will have a problem......
What is the operating system of your Cell Manager? If it is a Unix flavor then you use the same license for all tape drives (SCSI or FC) so your DR site will be OK.
If you are running Windows then there is a direct-attach license and a SAN license. The Windows Starter Kit includes one Direct-attach license, so you would need one more "HP Data Protector drive extensions for Windows, Netware, Linux (B6963AA)."
