Data Protector Error 1040

Error 1040: No devices specified or all devices are now offline

version v3.5 sp2. when trying to erase/format both the virtual library or the tape device.
The data in the devices seems invalid. but impossible to format.

Re: Data Protector Error 1040

Hi Albert,

2 questions:

1. What OS are you running?

2. What device are you attempting to back up to?

Re: Data Protector Error 1040

Hi Albert:

DPX Error 1040 is caused by a communication problem with the device which you are trying to use.

Re: Data Protector Error 1040

Hi Albert:

You need to fix the communication problem with your backup device to prevent the DPX Error 1040.

Re: Data Protector Error 1040

hello,
we are running suse linux ent 9 and the device that is supposed to be failing is the virtual library (hard disk).

anyway , after the lack of ideas , we completly reinstalled the software from 0. now it works again.
