Data Protector Express SSE Deleting Files/Folders

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on our problem. We are using Data Protector Express Single Server Edition on two different Severs. Each Server has a full installion of the program (we bought two full editions of the program for each server). The problem we have encountered is on random days just after the time our backups start we find that random files or folders are completely deleted. When we check within Data Protector Express (when restoring the deleted file) the properties of the file reads the time of deletion just after the Backup process has started. This has happened on both our servers. One Server is running Windows 2003 Server whilst the other is running Windows 2000 Server. We are running Full backups each day on the Windows 2000 Sever and One Full, 4 Differential Backups on the Windows 2003 Server. We have checked and the only application running at the times indicated is Data Protector Express SSE. The backups are running without Compression (due to an earlier problem I described on this forum). Any help with this would be welcome as there is a concern that critcal data may be lost.
