Data Protector Express Single Server Edition on Win2003 with Ultrium 448 tape device

Hi Forum, hope someone can help me. My licensed copy of this software has run properely for several years & on many occasions I have restored individual files from the tape back to the server. However I now need to restore a folder of several thousand files from the tape to the server and the service 'dpwinsdr' fails and stops the GUI responding (no matter how long it running). I have removed the software & re-installed several times and even tried running the software without the service (an option under initial installation) but it fails every time. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Thank you...
