Data protector express 3.5 licensens problems

I have a customer with has te following software
Data protector express for sbs
Data protector express backup agent BB122AA
Data protector express D2D2Any option

There is one w2003 SBS and three windows 2003 server in one domain.
With the evaluation version I can backup everything to the NAS.

I upgraded to verion 3.5 because of problems with the licens. I couldnt backup the remote servers.
With version 3.5 this was fixed. After two weeks my remote server are Offline and say that the evaulation license has expired.
I check when I upgraded to version 3.5 and all servers where licenced.

My client has no backup of three server any more.

Are my license ok? At HP support there is nobody who nows about data potector express?!

Hello Peter,

The licensing appears to be correct. Without seeing what you are seeing I can only make a couple of guesses.

Are the clients and the backup server (the server where you first installed Data Protector Express) on the same subnet or if you are using active directory, the same Windows domain?

If not, try adding entries to the hosts file on each of the machine for all of the other machines.

Do any of the machines have more than one network card?

If so, you will need to enter a command into the dpconfig.ini file to bind the dlwinsvc to a specific network card. If you used the defaults when you installed, the file is located in the folder c:\Program Files\HP\Data Protector Express\config.

Do this on any machine that has more than one network card.

In the section, add the following line:
bindTo=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the local network card that communicates with the Data Protector Express Backup Domain.

EXAMPLE:
If the IP address of the local machine is 10.0.10.150, the line should read:

bindTo=10.0.10.150

After you save the file you will need to either restart the service dpwinsvc or reboot the machine.

I change de config and add the bindto= line to all the servers. This didn't fix the problem.

When I look at the license for the backup agent 3pk I see the license has error 163

Peter,

This issue is more comples that we can resolve here. You are going to have to call your local country support line.

When you call in, make sure you select/tell them it is Data Protector Express (not simply Data Protector) to make sure you get someone who can help you.

Did you get your authorization codes converted to DPX license codes at webkey.external.hp.com and enter them into DPX?
