Device failure error using Sure store DAT 24i & Tapeware 6.2 SP3C
Please dont laugh at me. my job is on the line if i do not resolve this before the 15th.
whenever i run a job i receive an error:
The job has been terminated.
Error 88: no devices specified or all devices are now offline.
it then gives a an analysis of the job and continues with this:
there are no devices that can possibly meet the requirements for the job to complete.if any devices were specified, they are marked as "dead" due to communication failure, device failure e.t.c.
My Machine runs Windows 2000 Advanced Server and as earlier stated it uses a sure store 24 internal drive with tapeware as the backup software.
QuO Vadis?
P.S. This thread has been moved from Disk to Tape Backup (Small and Medium Business). -HP Forum Moderator

Re: Device failure error using Sure store DAT 24i & Tapeware 6.2 SP3C
even as small as 1MB and as large as 16MB.
i use Backup specific majorly. even though i tried the other possibilities but no breakthru.
My server runs Windows 2000 Advanced Server OS.
Thanks.
Sorry i could not get across. our Internet access was just restored a couple of minutes ago.

Re: Device failure error using Sure store DAT 24i & Tapeware 6.2 SP3C
did you receive error messages in your system event log?
did your dat show up any cleaning light?
you can also run L&TT to check if you have some errors on you dat unit, or if you tape is bad.
be also sure to desable the service "removable storage" as this can interfere with you software
bye
