SolutionDDS 4 has a media capacity of 20GB uncompressed, 40GB compressed (2-1 ratio).
DDS 3 has a media capacity of 12GB uncompressed, 24GB compressed (2-1 ratio).
DDS 4 media can't be used in a DDS3 drive but a DDS 4 drive is backwards compatible with DDS3.

Re: Difference between DDS3 and DDS4
DDS4 is also faster.
3Mb/s native speed (6Mb/s compressed) for the DDS4
1Mb/s native speed (2Mb/s compressed) for the DDS3.
