Does WinXP have problem w/ HP 5GB "internal"?

Dear John Nash:
I thought WinXP and "external" HP tape drives had issues? Are you saying WinXP and the "internal" HP Colorado 5GB tape drive has problems. Should I take this to mean my current problem (below) is likely a result of this?

Error: The device reported an error on a request to write a file mark to media.
Error reported: Hardware failure. There may be a hardware or media problem.
