Drive offline in DLT 7000 2/15

Suddenly one of my two dlt drives has become inaccessible(without responding to the restart). Can I carry out some operation to analyze the possible mishap? Should I change the drive?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Emilio,

Which OS platform are you running on the host which the drive is connected to? Depending on the OS, you may download the Library and Tape Tool (L&TT) to test the drives. However, if there is a connection issue with the drives, it could either be scsi id conflict, scsi cable, scsi terminator, scsi interface on the drive or the scsi adapter on the host itself having problem.

Consider a bad drive too!

Check with LTT as mentioned before.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Drive offline in DLT 7000 2/15

Sudden failure is fairly common with the DLT7000 drives near end of life. Just about all of them would be at or past end of life by now so my first guess would be the drive is dead. L&TT may help but if the drive has failed the power on self test L&TT won't be able to do much if anything with the drive.
