ESL 9322 autoconfig on Win2000 using DP5.1 creating problems

I have a problem with my ESL 9322 tape library
connected to my DL580 server running Windows 2000 server with SP4.
We have HP Storage Works Data Protector 5.1 installed on this server.

Following are the details about the Library:
ESL9322L1 - 8 LTO Ultrium 230 drives with 222 slots with
ESL9000 embedded FC router E2400 which contains
2 E1200 boards each having:
1-FibreChannel (LC connector, 1 or 2 Gb/sec)
2-LVDSCSI(USCSI-2,80MB/sec,VHDCI connectors).

Windows is recognising all 8 tape drives and media changers as below:

CPQKGPSA SCSI Adapter at address '5/1.255.0', driver: CPQKGPSA
COMPAQ NS ROUTER E1200 at address 5/1.124.4 Firmware : 5.425
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI at address 5/1.124.0
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI at address 5/1.124.1
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI at address 5/1.124.2
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI at address 5/1.124.3

CPQKGPSA SCSI Adapter at address '7/1.255.0', driver: CPQKGPSA
COMPAQ NS ROUTER E1200 at address 7/1.124.5 Firmware : 5.425
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI at address 7/1.124.0
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI at address 7/1.124.1
HP ESL9000 Series at address 7/1.124.2
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI at address 7/1.124.3
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI at address 7/1.124.4

Driver and Firmware installed for Media Changer of ELS 9322L1 :
Driver : C:\WINNT\system32\DRIVERS\catlmw2.sys
Firmware : 3.48

Driver and Firmware installed for all 8 Ultrium-1 tape drives of ELS 9322L1 :
Driver : C:\WINNT\system32\DRIVERS\hplto.sys
Firmware : E38W/OEM20

Problem :
I am not able to configure ESL 9322 using HP Dataprotector 5.1. When i tried to configure ESL 9322 using "Autoconfiguration Devices"
functionality/menu provided by DP5.1 software, it is failing. I am attaching an screen shot which i got while configuring.

Re: ESL 9322 autoconfig on Win2000 using DP5.1 creating problems

Hi,

Disable the Windows medium changer and the tape drives in the device manager of Windwos.

Make sure that the Removable Medium Storage Service is disabled as well.

Reboot now the server and try to configure it again.

The Device Support matrix mentions as well that the following SCSI controller drivers are required:

For 32bit SCSI Controller = cpq32fs2.sys, version 5.12.20

You can find the matrix at http://openview.hp.com/products/storage_data_protector/device_matrices/Device_Support_Matrix_DP51.pdf

best regards,

Kurt
