Empty slot bug?
We are using a Surestore 6/60 with DLT IV tapes.
We are using the most recent version of Data Protector with all patches installed.
Over the past month or two we have been noticing that DP is sometimes reporting every (or nearly every) expired tape slot is "EMPTY".
In order to refresh the inventory we have to recycle the tapes. Since we do backups unattended on Sunday morning this is a problem. Often, tapes hang at intervention waiting for an expired tape.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks.

Re: Empty slot bug?
If the labels on the tapes are not affixed correctly the barcoade scanner might have issues identifying a tape in loaded int eh slot. Also if the magazine are worna nd are no longer securing the tape completely int he slot the invetory might be failing with a slot empty message
