Error 1401: Alert - Please insert compatible media
Info:
* Brand new tape-drive, DAT 72 USB (external)
* Data Protector Express 3.50-sp2 - Secondary
* Newly formatted media - they got named
"New Media"
"New Media (1)"
"New Media (2)"
and so forth. 5 in total. The media is about 1 year old, so used max 50 times each.
* Brand new job - Job Info: "Backup Local Machine" (which is a Win2003Std server), Daily Rotation Media (for some reason they get listed as "Friday", "Monday", "Sunday", "Thursday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday")
Options:
--------
-Backup mode : Full
-Auto verify mode: Full verify
-Write mode : Overwrite all media
-Span mode : Split File
-Change mode : Prompt for antoher media
Schedule:
---------
Schedule type : Run repeatedly
Rotation type : Custom rotation
Type of fixed rotation: Fixed by day of week
Interval settings: Day - Full overwrite backup, 1 sets, every 1 day(s)
And from the Calendar I see that it'll do backups monday-friday (not saturday nor sunday)
The Alert I got when running this job the first time is:
----------------------------------------------
Summary
Error
Error 1401: Alert - Please insert compatible media
Objects
Backup Job
Home\Admin\Backup Local Machine
Tape Device
xxservernamexx\Devices\HP C7438A (Serial Number xxxxxxxxxx)
Description
Data Protector Express is unable to find usable media. Please insert media into the loader or stand alone device which is compatible with the job options. If this is a restore or verify job, make sure that the versions you selected reside on the media available to the device or autoloader.
----------------------------------------------
It was set to run this Monday, and I've been trying to find some sort of support using phone, but no luck. So today I cancelled the alert and for some reason the program skipped "Tuesday-backup" and started the "Wednesday-backup" even though it is Thursday today. So I stopped that one and now its waiting to start the "Thursday-backup" in a few hours, but I suspect it will fail with the same Alert (1401)
Please help?

Re: Error 1401: Alert - Please insert compatible media
Just got the same error. It seems the media must be specified specifically to which job it is run for. I haven't figured out how to do this but if you find out, repost.

These are just listed alphabetically...

Re: Error 1401: Alert - Please insert compatible media
generally:
the media is assigned to a pool.
each tape drive is assigned a default pool to use.
each backup job specifies what drive(s) and can specify the media pool if you wish
