Error Message of job failing due to hardware error

SCSI Tape Drive Status Change.
The tape drive with SCSI target 1 connected to SCSI bus 1 of the controller in slot 1 has a new status of 5.
(Tape drive status values: 1=other, 2=ok, 3=failed, 5=offline, 6=missingWasOk, 7=missingWasFailed, 8=missingWasOffline)

This just tells you that the tape drive connected to that controller is not responding. You should check what kind of drive it is and see if it has indicators.
Is it a stand-alone drive o is part of a library?

its part of a library however its a msl6000 but the HPL&TT shows it as a 5000. also just found out the stupid server is still running sp1. updating that now

You can test the drive with L&TT (after stopping your backup software). It will tell you if the drive is responding to commands and you can run a Read/Write test with one known-good tape.

well let me take a step back this error was happening on my LT02 drives so i upgrade to the LT04 drives. same error however the drives get this error like 3 ot of 5 times. just some more info
