Error "The SCSI bus was reset (21)" SureStore 2/20
We have the next enviroment:
SureStore Tape Library 2/20 (C9522CC)with 2 drives Utrium1. It is conneted to Netserver LC2000 with fibre Channel. The LC2000 OS is Win2k Pro. and my application is Omniback v4.1.
The Error "The SCSI bus was reset (21)" is reported for the Library event log when I am backing up with Omniback. The message in Omniback after the fault is "[Major] From: BMA@pronos15.pap.gob.mx "Drive2" Time: 04/07/2002 17:32:29
[90:51] Tape1:0:0:2C Cannot write to device ([1117] can not ejecute the process, because there is an error in the device I/O.". The message in the Event Viewer is: "The device, \Device\Scsi\AFCW2K1, don??t responde on the permit time"
We have the last firmware of the Library and driver for de PCI Fibre Channel Controller.
Can anyone help us?
Thanks

Re: Error "The SCSI bus was reset (21)" SureStore 2/20
One thing I notice is you have a tape driver loaded. Try to unload this, the adress should look like scsi1:0:0:2C.
Which FC-HBA do you use, I had problems with a JNI card, when changing to Qlogic 2200 evrything worked OK.
Check that it is not something wrong with the FC-HBA settings.

Re: Error "The SCSI bus was reset (21)" SureStore 2/20
We have an Agilent HHBA-510X PCI Fibre Channel Controller. Its HP part number is D8602B. We'll install a new driver (3.0.4107.0), but before we'll re-install win2k to server version. I??ll tell you what it was the result.
We checked the FC-HBA settings and the recommendation was to use win2k Server.
Thank you for your help.

OK, we re-installed win2k Server and nothing has changed.
We have the same problem.
Is there another idea?
Thanks

Re: Error "The SCSI bus was reset (21)" SureStore 2/20
Do you have any monitoring software running?
In SANs monitoring software can cause command timeouts when overlapped commands are sent from both the backup software and monitoring software. The recovery of such timeouts can include bus resets.

Re: Error "The SCSI bus was reset (21)" SureStore 2/20
We moved the cell manager server out of SAN and we work without SANs monitoring software.
Now, We??ll try to work with SCSI connetions from cell manager server to Library.
Thank JAN for you help.

Re: Error "The SCSI bus was reset (21)" SureStore 2/20
Yes, the problem was resolved.
The solution was to change an Ultrium1 Drive of the library.
Now, We know that "The SCSI bus was reset (21)" error in the library event log, maybe an Ultrium Drive is damage.
