External Ultrium 1760 SAS HBA Help

We had an old SCSI tape drive that died and so a new one was purchased, however the new one is SAS not SCSI. A new HBA was ordered as well but the new drive is not recognized by windows. I am trying to find out what HBA I would need to get htis thing working. I tried to use the SPOCK and honestly it was the most confusing mess I've tried to use. I am fairly new to SAS so I apologize if I sound ignorant. Also, the drive came with a cable (SFF-8088 on both ends) but if that will nopt work on a new HBA what would I need? Thanks for any help!

Re: External Ultrium 1760 SAS HBA Help

It depends what your server supports.

What server do you have?

What HBA did you order?

Hope this helps!

The server is a Dell PowerEdge T310. The HBA that was ordered is a HighPoint RocketCache 3244X8.

Re: External Ultrium 1760 SAS HBA Help

HP provides compatibility information for HP products:

However, you need to check and confirm if your SAS adapter can support tapes, not every HBA can do this.

Hope this helps!
