Firmware upgrade fails HP LTT crashes
I have a C1537A internal tape drive. When LTT (version 4.0) starts it says it is in restricted mode.
The firmware revision ls L411/HP from 5/25/2005, recently installed.
The yellow light on the tape is permanently on, and I can not use the tape drive.

Re: Firmware upgrade fails HP LTT crashes
This should work though 4.0 is relatively new. You could perhaps try with 3.5 SR4a which we keep on 'just in case'. You'll need to uninstall 4.0 first.
Restricted mode is used when LTT doesn't recognise the drive. Maybe there's a firmware upset. It shouldn't crash either way.
I'll forward your issue to our support team at ltt_team@hp.com. This would be your normal route for LTT support.
If you could have the failure info handy for the team that would be great:
* Set IO history on in the preferences
* Try again (with 4.0)
* Have the Eventlog.ltt file in the logs directory (of the LTT install directory) ready to send
We can tell a lot from these logs.
Thanks, Richard.

It's more interesting when it's gone wrong

Re: Firmware upgrade fails HP LTT crashes
Hello Eli,
Please get the I/O history enabled Eventlog generated by LTT. This will help us to resolve your issue.
The steps to generate the logs are given:
(Assuming your OS to be Windows)
1. From the options menu select the "Preferences"
2. Preferences dialog box appears
3. In the "Other Settings" check the "Add I/O history to Eventlog" and say "OK"
4. then as usual do the firmware update that was failing.
5. Mail us the Eventlog file.
Thanks in advance,
Srivathsan
