Formatting harddisk - cant restore without media

Hi all. I am having a problem.
I am using the HP StorageWorks data protector express to backup and restore NETWORK data. Few days ago, i discovered that this computer had been affected by viruses and thus, i had formatted the C: drive of the harddisk and all the program installed in C: is gone. Thus, when i reinstalling all the windows and program including the data protector express software,i discover that all the media created when running the backup process previously by was gone. and this make me cant restore back all the data even my data tape were here. So, how should i do to restore back data? Please help.

Re: Formatting harddisk - cant restore without media

Hi Steve,

There are two ways to do the recovery.

Option 1 - Restore the catalog.
Use this option if you have a full backup on tape that includes a backup of the Data Protector Express envronment.
- Insert the tape into the tape drive.
- Use the media wizard and to create a "Restore Catalog" job.
- The job will search the tape for a copy of the catalog and restore it. Then you can do a full restore.

Option 2 - Import Tapes
Use this option if the restore catalog job fails.
- Insert the tape containing the last full backup in to the tape drive.
- Use the media wizard to create an "Import Tape" job.
- The jobe will import the tape into the catalog and then you can do a full restore.
