HP 1/8 Autoloader 448 G2 showing as stand alone drive

Hello!
We just bought a new tape drive, and have upgraded our symantec backup exec to version 11d. We are having some trouble getting the new device to register as the correct option.

We are running Windows Server 2003.

The device shows up in device manager as HP LT01, with no other entries referencing the device. We have set it to "random" which i believe is so we can use it as we need.

Any ideas anyone please? we're desperate now! been missing our backups for some time

What SCSI HBA are you using?

From the users manual, page 16:

"Multiple LUN support

The Tape Autoloader uses a single SCSI ID and two logical unit numbers (LUN). LUN 0 controls the tape drive and LUN 1 controls the robotic. The Autoloader requires an HBA that supports multiple LUNs. If multiple LUN support is not enabled, the host computer cannot scan beyond LUN 0 to discover the Autoloader. It just sees the tape drive.
Parallel SCSI HP Smart Array controllers, RAID controllers, and most on-board HBAs do not support multiple LUNs. Refer to the EBS matrix at http://www.hp.com/go/ebs for current HBA compatibility information."

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
